Aion, GAC’s electric vehicle manufacturer arm, is schedule to announce the AY2, which is slated for the European market. GAC Aion is the latest Chinese EV Maker to enter the EU market despite the looming extra tariffs on Chinese EVs. Aion AY2 is a hatchback EV that was unveil at the recent Guangzhou Auto Show and the 3rd model by Aion to be release globally.
The Aion AY2’s front end features eyelid-shaped headlights. Beneath them, is the fog-light with a distinctive pattern resembling the Chinese character “tian” (田) meaning “paddy field.” The air inlet is subtly located below the fender.
The charging port is conveniently placed on the right side of the car. To optimize aerodynamics and cost, the car features semi-flush door handles. GAC Aion release two sets of alloy wheel designs, of which at least two are shown, offer a playful and stylish look.
At the rear, a spoiler tops off the sleek roofline, and the taillights that once again incorporate the tian” (田) character, possibly providing a clue to the car’s official name.
GAC Aion has not release any details like specs, availability and price but people in the know expect the AY2’s price to be around RMB100,000 (yuan) or around $14,050 (USD). the Aion AY2 is expected to launch in Europe next year.
