Xiaomi has issued its first recall for its SU7 Standard Edition electric vehicles. The company announced that a total of 30,931 SU7 Standard Edition electric vehicles manufactured from February 6, 2024 to November 26, 2024, will be recalled effective immediately, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) posted on their website.

Reuters reports that the recall is due to “software issues may result in abnormal timing synchronization, which affects the detection of static obstacles by the intelligent parking assistance function, increases the risk of scratches or collisions, and poses potential safety hazards.

Xiaomi confirmed that the company received 255 complaints related to the issue, with incidents first reported as far back as November 14, 2024. Xiaomi first announced the Xiaomi SU7 early 2024 at the CES 2024 in Las Vegas.

Xiaomi EV will issue a free OTA (over-the-air) upgrade for the recalled vehicles to fix the issue.
