StB Giga Factory is planning to add two new production lines in their New Clark City, the company said that the goal is to reach a capacity of 2 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of battery output by 2030. This expansion will complement its current capacity of 300-600 megawatt-hours.
The planned expansion will include two additional factories inside Clark and aims to cater to the growing demand for energy storage solutions, particularly in the electric vehicle market.
The company also aims to establish a domestic charging infrastructure and renewable energy component manufacturing capabilities in the coming years. StB Giga Factory is the first LFP battery (Lithium Ferrophosphate) factory in the Philippines.
The recent inauguration of StB Gigafactory’s plant in the Clark Special Economic Zone marks a significant milestone. This facility, part of the ₱86 billion investment deal secured by President Marcos Jr., will produce energy storage batteries for various applications, including residential, commercial, and industrial use.
With a target of exporting 70% of its output to Australia and Southeast Asia, StB Gigafactory is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing global demand for battery solutions. The company also sees an opportunity to supply the U.S. electric vehicle market, which is currently facing challenges due to tariffs on Chinese imports.
By manufacturing batteries locally, StB Gigafactory can significantly increase the value-added component of Philippine-made electric vehicles, such as e-tricycles.
