September 29, 2024 is now a very significant date for the Hyundai Motor Company. It was the day the South Korean automaker reached a major production milestone with 100,000,000 vehicles built since the late ‘60s.
That achievement was reached in less than 60 years, making Hyundai one of the fastest growing automakers of all time. If you consider the fact that the company only started exporting cars in the late-‘70s, it shows just how rapid Hyundai grew.
Hyundai in a statement said “As a token of gratitude for the unwavering support and trust of its customers, the company delivered its 100 millionth and first vehicle, an IONIQ 5, directly to a customer. The vehicle rolled off the final inspection conveyor belt at Ulsan Plant’s shipping center during a special handover ceremony.”
Aside from the “special handover ceremony” of the ‘100 million and 1’ vehicle, Hyundai also release a commemorative video, embedded below;
The company is betting all it’s fortune to electric vehicle (EV), as it converts it’s Ulsan Plant, which began operations in 1968, to a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) facility.
Here’s to the next 100,000,000 Hyundai (electric) vehicles!
