Changan’s electric vehicle manufacturing arm, Deepal just announced the S05 compact electric SUV. The S05 is the company’s second new EV model in the last 3 months, it is also the s. Last Juley, the company announced the S07, a mid-size EV SUV.
Just like the L07, the Deepal S05 compact SUV will be available in battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) models. The starting price for the Deepal S05 will be RMB 119,900 or around $16,880.00 (₱976k).
The Deepal S05 BEV will come in for variants with a starting price of RMB 119,900 (₱976k) , RMB 125,900 (₱1.022M), RMB 135,900 (₱1.103M) and RMB 145,900 (₱1.18M). The Deepal S05 EREV model on the other hand will be available in 2 variants that starts at RMB 139,900 (₱1.14M) and going up to RMB 149,900 (₱1.22M).
Dimensions of the Deepal S05 will be 4,620 mm X 1,900 mm X 1,600 mm (LxWxH) with a wheelbase of 2,880mm.
The Deepal S05 BEV is powered by a single electric motor with a max-power of 175kW with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 secs. The all-electric version of Deepal S05 comes standard with a 56.12 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery that offers a CLTC range of 510 km on a full charge.
The Deepal S05 EREV on the other hand is powered by a 1.5 L displacement engine and an electric motor that can output a maximum system power of 160 kW equal to 215 hp with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 secs.
Both variants of Deepal S05 EREV comes standard with a 27.28 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery with a CLTC pure electric range of 200 kilometers. At full tank and full charge, the Deepal S05 EREV offers a combined range of 1,234 kilometers.
Launched by Changan Automobile in 2022, Deepal is an electric vehicle manufacturing company and was original called Chongqing Changan New Energy Automobile Technology founded in 2018 and became an independent brand since 2023.
Deepal currently offers 4 EVs; L07 – a mid-size sedan, S07 – mid-size SUV, S05 – compact SUV and the G318 – mid-size SUV. No word yet if Changan/Deepal will market their EVs in the Philippines.
